We present to you an exclusive creative direction of Marilisi, known as gold lace, or “gold fabric.”
This extraordinary textile has no analogue in contemporary jewelry art and is created exclusively in our atelier.
It is an ornamental lace woven from the finest gold threads, each as delicate as a human hair. The process begins with a detailed sketch of the gold lace design, followed by a long and labor-intensive journey, from preparing the gold alloy to transforming it into a woven gold fabric. Every single stage is performed entirely by hand.
The result is an exceptionally fine and beautiful ornamental lace, a fabric once found only in the garments of kings and emperors of the past. This “gold fabric” can be used both in jewelry and as an adornment for precious ceremonial clothing.
Masterpieces of garments embroidered with gold thread can be found in museums around the world. The technology of producing gold thread was known to many ancient cultures. Royal and ritual garments were often embroidered with so-called gold thread. This technique was also well known in early Georgian culture.
A remarkable historical fact tells us that in the second century AD, the Georgian king Pharsman sent cloaks embroidered with gold thread as a gift to the Roman Emperor Hadrian I.
